Urban Decay Naked Cherry: A Review

A few weeks ago I was given the Urban Decay Naked Cherry palette as a present from my lovely Aunt Penny and since then I have been trying it out. It has now become the palette I use almost daily so I’m going to give you all as much information as possible as to why I find it so great.

The Basics

  • Price: £42, $49
  • Cruelty Free
  • 24 month period of usage
  • 12 Brand new shades
  • Double ended brush included, tappered blending and shader

Firstly the packaging is to die for! Consisting of a hard burgundy plastic it certainly is sturdy. Along the front is an embossed naked cherry and Urban Decay logo with cherries following the colour style of the palette underneath.

Inside is there is a mirror the length of the palette, the 12 new shades and the double ended brush in it’s little compartment.

The mirror is a nice size, good quality and works well when doing your make up on the go. The brush is equally as nice with a lovely soft texture and has practical shaping for the perfect blend. I have had no issues with fraying or loose hairs.

Moving on to the shade range. The 12 new shades consist of:

Urban Decay Naked Cherry

  • Two nude shades (matte)
  • Three pale pinks/peach shades one of these being a metallic
  • Two metallic’s which are a bit bronze with a pink/red undertone
  • A mauve and cherry shade (matte)
  • Deeper pink and deep purple (metallic)
  • To finish a Dark purple matte shade

I have swatched all the shades below to give an idea of how they look

Honestly this palette has been a dream to work with. The blend you are able to achieve is effortless. I by no means am a professional make up artist and I can create something that looks really pretty.

The shadows are creamy and easy to apply. They don’t have the most bold colour pay off when swatched but when applied to the eye I think they give a lovely subtle look that can be built up to something deeper for evening wear.

All of the shadows work well together to create whatever you may wish. I have done some plain matte looks with no shimmer and then used the shimmers on other days. Both types of shadow blend so nicely, it is a quality palette.

I love the colour range and I think the idea behind Naked Cherry is to encourage the use of colours for every day wear. It really has nudged me towards more colour for a day look. I am often a neutral toned girl so it’s been really nice to explore and not be frightened of using deeper colours.

Overall it is a palette I have fallen in love with and will be one I recommend to friends and family. If you have been eyeing this up and have yet to purchase I would put it on the Christmas list as it hasn’t disappointed me.

Let me know you thoughts on the Naked Cherry? How do you feel about the original Naked palette’s being discontinued? Hope you enjoyed my post, next post will be Friday.

  1. It’s hard to resist lol

The packaging is really beautiful and so are the shades! I only have one UD palette (Beached) and I find the quality of the shadows amazing, so I’m not surprised you liked it and found it easy to work it.
I definitely have way too many palettes at the moment, but I might indulge in the Cherry one if it’s on sale someday.

    1. Same here I’ve got four palettes in the last few weeks but you know it’s Christmas. I will be investing in some more urban decay palettes soon x

      1. I used a few make up Geek shadows for my wedding as you can buy them individual and I wanted a neutral look that was quite natural but the naked 1 by urban decay has a few natural based shadows in the palette. Make up Geek is very affordable and good quality x x

      2. I worries I hope you have a great wedding day and I’ll be waiting for pics on Instagram x x

  2. The packaging is so pretty and the shades are beautiful! I love the metallic colours, so perfect for the festive party season! My sister is really into her makeup and this has given me inspiration for a potential Christmas present for her! Thank you for sharing Kate, fab review as always! <3 xxx
