As this post goes live I will be away on my first every camping trip. A tent, a husband, a two, three and five year old YAY!!
Over the month of August I have got through many products and my empties pile is looking rather full. Here are a few of the High street skincare and make up items I’ve been using. I’ve added links, prices and all the information you will need. Each item comes in at a really affordable price so without delay let’s hop straight in.
Recently I have loved using an oil cleanser. They have great ability in removing make up and dirt to ensure my face is spotless before using a milk based cleanser. This is actually my third empty bottle of the Simple Oil cleanser. I’ve stuck with it as I can literally see it stripping all the dirt away from my face, whilst being gentle and kind to the skin. I have never had any form of breakout from using this product and it has become a vital part of my skincare routine. I do wish Simple made a bigger bottle as when using both day and night the 125ml does not last very long.
I have been using the Garnier Skin Active cleansing milk for ages. This month I changed from my usual Rose Water to the Honey Flower and I wish I’d stuck to what I know works. I have combination skin that can often be sensitive and the honey flower did not do much for this. I found my skin was left quite dry and irritated. The product did not cause any breakouts and my skin remained clear throughout the month but the irritation was just too much. I will be using the Garnier cleansing milk again but will be sticking to my preferred Rose Water infused. The bottle weighs in at 200ml and will last the around four weeks when using both day and night.
My last skincare empty of the month and it’s a good one. These masks have been around for a while and L’Oreal keep adding to the Pure Clay collection. This particular one is charcoal based and promises to detoxify and clarify skin. The pot holds 50ml of product and the guidelines state this should be enough for ten applications (I got about eight).
For me this product really worked. As I said I have combination skin and my T-Zone can often suffer from pretty bad breakout. The charcoal ingredients in this help to clean these area right up. My skin looked a lot clearer and it helped take away the redness from blemished areas. The mask was quite dehydrating to the dry areas of my skin and it was important I moisturised quickly after usage. Overall I would definitely buy this again or even look to the others available in the clay mask collection.
Hint : The mask does not come with an applicator and is a little messy to apply with your fingers so I used a clean foundation brush.
This is the ‘mother’ of all body scrubs and for £8.00 you get 300ml which will last you a good while. Soap & Glory have a few body scrubs available but the sugar crush is my favourite due to it’s lovely lime smell. The scrub has been great in helping to get my skin summer ready, the thick, grainy texture allows for a strong exfoliation. Sugar Crush body scrub left my skin feeling so smooth and soft. After spending Winter and a wet Spring covered up this brought my skin some much needed TLC before exposing to the sun rays. I followed up with using their righteous butter (£8.00) for added hydration.
This has gone to the top of my re – purchase list a quality product worth the money.
My final empty of the month! I did not stop using this micro brow pencil. The pencil is very thin with a wind up nib plus a spoolie on the other end. I prefer using brow pencils that are on the thin side rather then the chunkier ones. I feel it allows me to be more accurate and decide whether I want a bolder look or something more natural. I like Maybelline’s as the texture is a lot softer to some other pencils which allows you to use a lot less pressure to build up the colour and fill in sparse areas. The pencil was quick and easy to use and due to the soft texture you can create a natural looking brow in seconds.
Draw backs I had were I ordered online and chose the blonde as the soft brown looked quite dark on screen. Next time I will be going with the brown as the blonde was a little on the light side for me, although this is a thumbs up and would buy again.
There you have it another month gone by and we are closer to CHRISTMAS!! Has anyone started thinking about Blogmas? Will you be doing it this year? I am yet to decide. Also comment down below any products you have been loving this month, I’d love to hear about them.
Right now I am probably standing in a cold field crying and saying camping is “Not for me” haha.
